Birmingham Community Matters is a charity, supporting people in Birmingham who are setting up or developing community projects. We know there are gaps in the help available, especially for micro and emerging community groups. We try to fill those gaps by bringing people together with others who have had relevant experience.
We want to encourage people to become more active in their communities.
We hold face-to-face sessions in community venues across the city, where people with questions and ideas can drop in for an informal chat with our ‘Community Matters Helpers’ (people who have experience of running projects and groups). We also hold workshops on useful topics such as fundraising. We share resources.
We call BCM a ‘peer to peer learning network’ because we believe everyone has something to learn and everyone has something to teach. That’s our motto!
When physical distancing became necessary due to the coronavirus crisis, we began delivering our services online. Many people said they liked the convenience and accessibility of this, and it enabled to expand our reach across Birmingham. So we will continue delivering digitally as well as holding in-person events.
You will find all of BCM’s upcoming sessions listed on our Eventbrite page.
