Meet Jo Burrill, our new Development Coordinator

When Birmingham Community Matters emerged from its pilot phase with National Lottery funding earlier this year, we needed to find the perfect person to take our charity forward.

This summer we recruited a Development Coordinator – someone to further our charity’s work in supporting small community groups.

We are delighted to say that BCM’s new employee is Jo Burrill. Jo has worked in the not-for-profit sector since 2001, for small charities including a centre for refugees, as well as for Midland Heart. Jo has vast experience in developing, mobilising and managing funded projects, as well as in providing business advice to micro and social enterprises.

Jo’s most recent roles were at Digital Unite and Parkinson’s UK. For the latter she worked with branches and support groups within the larger charity in developing activities, campaigning, fundraising and recruiting volunteers.

Jo is no stranger to BCM, having supported us at a consultancy level in our early stages. She has managed many BCM surgeries, giving her a unique understanding of the multitude and variety of small and emerging groups across our city – and their scope to spread positivity through communities.

Jo is a great connector of people, as well as being warm and approachable. We are sure you will discover this when you meet her.
