The all-day event aims to support local community and non-profit organisations affected by the coronavirus pandemic, giving them information and ideas for rebuilding.
The topics of talks delivered by experts will include staff and volunteer management, risk assessments, funding, media and communications, and more. Experts include representatives from the charity shining a light on good work in our city – LoveBrum – and grant fundraising consultants Get Grants, whose hour-long workshop will focus on large grant making and writing bids.
You can see the full line-up at Aston Villa Foundation’s website.
BCM is delighted to be taking the virtual stage from 11am to 12 noon, with a slot called ‘Starting Up a Voluntary Group’.
During the session we hope to support people who have been inspired to ‘do more’ in their community during the COVID-19 crisis. Perhaps you have started a new group, or brought skills and enthusiasm to an existing group. Or you want to do something in your community, but you’re not sure where to begin.
We’ll talk you through the things to consider when starting a voluntary or community group. We will share information on areas such as:
* Working with other groups across Birmingham
* Gathering and motivating volunteers
* Identifying what structures are suitable for small groups.
Our session will take the form of a short presentation, leaving space for plenty of interaction and questions.
To book a place on our session, or for any of the other workshops, please email Jen Tullett at jt82@avfc.co.uk.
